Remote, Untouched, Unforgettable It was a truly breathtaking ocean. While every dive gives the new discoveries and moving experiences, Triton Bay is the outstanding sea. It is apart from anything I’ve encountered before. It felt like a place that could reset the senses, which tend to grow dull with experience. The sheer density of fish, vivid soft corals, ghostly sea fan forests stretched out like something from a dream. I should express the deepest respect and gratitude to those who have worked to preserve this underwater world, all while involving and supporting the local communities. Diving into the Spice Island It has already been a year since I visited Sri Lanka for Birding during last year’s Lunar New Year. For 2025, we decided to go diving in Ambon. Speaking of Ambon, several marine creatures bear its name, with the most notable ones being the Ambon chromis and Ambon scorpionfish. In Japan, the Ambon chromis is considered a rare species, and capturing images of its adult darting in and out of distant coral was quite a challenge.
