I observe only a few individual of this species in Singapore, probably it is uncommon. However, spotting this is not a difficult. They are still in the same area even after 2months from the first spot. This green coral must be his favorite place. Distinguishing it from the five-line cardinalfish is complicated.
ヤライシモチとの見分けが図鑑上の写真では微妙でよくわからないと思ったが、いざ見てみると雰囲気は全然違った。
体高はやや高く、ベースとなっている白色はより明るい感じがする。大きさも一回り大きいだろうか。
大きさや色は個体差によるところがあると思うので、また別の観察機会があれば嬉しい。
ちなみに図鑑における分類の方法は尾鰭つけ根の黒斑が縦帯のライン上にあればヤライシモチ、若干上にあれば本種と書いてある。
確かに若干上にあるような感じがしないでもない。
